When we bought our NYC apartment 4 years ago as newlyweds, we envisioned having two children and thus eventually turning our dining room into a third bedroom.

This sign at Momofuku Milk Bar was my inspiration for the overall design:

FROM EATS TO SUPER SWEET

"I am thrilled with the overall results and feel I have succeeded in creating a bold, modern room for my daughter to grow-up in and create countless special memories in."

Her name embroidered in hot pink on the pillow case. from PB Teen. Since she has such a unique name, we’ll always have to custom order personalization.

We did splurge when it came to her name sign.

Initially, I imagined either a black chalkboard or black & white vertical striped wall but that is where the furniture unit would be. I was able to incorporate the black & white stripes by making that the window treatments.

BEDDING

DOORS

From watching tons of HGTV real-estate/renovation/design shows, we decided we wanted to use sliding glass doors to create a separate space for the new bedroom.

This space saving furniture is built into the wall and the bed is retractable. You can either leave it down (which is what we’ll do when Greenlee is ready to sleep in a big girl bed) or raise it to reveal a kiddie couch. I didn’t really expect to get much use out of the faux leather black couch, but it turns out this is Big Brother Ian’s favorite new hang-out spot.

While I love pink, I have tried not to overdo it and use it more as an accent in case Greenlee isn’t tickled pink as she gets older. I am thrilled with the overall results and feel I have succeeded in creating a bold, modern room for my daughter to grow-up in and create countless special memories in.
