Help! I'm having trouble visualizing how to organize our soon to be new living room. Here are photos of the previous owner's setup. The room is approximately 18x14. We prefer not to mount our TV above the fireplace, but we're having trouble figuring out the setup with the corner fireplace and openness of the room. We also think their love seat looks a little lost over in the corner (see photo). We will be buying new furniture, so I'm open to suggestions on furniture, as well as placement of the couches and the TV/stand (our TV is 50 in.). Thank you!!
You can keep the placement of the bigger couch against the window, add some dramatic drapery, an area rug in front, a coffee table and directly across add two chairs (doesn't have to be that fancy as the one I attached) and a small table in between for more seating.
Opening up the space more. On the wall next to the fireplace, you can have a set of cabinetry - custom built or made to look like they were so you have storage for TV things and a place to stand the TV on. Two identical shelves on either side and a middle piece that will act as the TV stand.
You can built custom cabinetry or you can buy shelving that acts and looks like built in cabinetry. Place artwork and home decor accessories over the mantle. Make the room come together with an area rug.
