The linen closet has to be the most forgotten spot in the house. And here's why? There's nothing "cool" in there. It's either linens, cleaning supplies and sometimes medicine. It's time to revamp this space and bring it to life!

Divide and conquer! Use shelf dividers or linen organizers to keep stacks from toppling over. Start devising a system of baskets, shelf dividers, and plastic-covered wire bins that attach to the underside of existing shelves - anything that will work for you and the size of your linen closet. Use bins and baskets to contain toiletries and add cleaning supplies.
Organize your Shelves. The first step to any organization plan is to assess the situation first. Get everything out the closet and start coming up with a plan for each shelf.

Label shelves. Label the edge of each shelf to make sure piles are kept in order and to create groups. Use adhesive tape or the new overly popular washi tape (which I'm obsessed with!) or card holders.

Organize. Further organize the shelves by separating each linen into rooms (ex: master bedroom, master bath, kids room, table linens) Use a color coding system to assign to each room - (kid's room: blue, master bedroom: yellow)
To organize sets, use its pillow case to keep like items together and very neat looking.

Label, label, label! And pretty it up!! When you've decided what linens will go where take some time up to pretty your closet by making cute little ribbons and labels for your baskets and bins.

Take up floor space. Don't let floor space go unused. Store baskets, small hampers, and small appliances like irons and handheld vacuums on the floor.

Don't forget the door. Use the door as extra storage area. You can hang some towels, an ironing board, or brooms and mops. Or you can hang an over the door shoe organizer and keep small cleaning objects or extra toiletries in it.

Store your First Aid items. I know people are thinking - doesn't your First Aid go in the bathroom? - But I've learned over time and with extensive research, that items like medicine actually go bad faster in the bathroom because of the constant change in temperatures. So start storing your medicine in the linen closet.
Don't forget that ALL MONTH long, we are running a Linky Blog Hop. Link up your home organization blog post and we will pick and choose some to highlight at the end of the month.
